Evelyn Grose Adkins

Evelyn Grose Adkins, 72, of Oak Hill, WV died on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, WV. Born March 06, 1936 at Bluefield, WV she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth Poe Grose. Mrs. Adkins was a retired school teacher having taught in McDowell, Kanawha and Fayette counties. She also held a West Virginia Realtor's license. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Sigma, Sigma Sigma Sorority, the Oak Hill United Methodist Church and the White Oak Country Club. She was past president of both the Fayette Study Club and White Oak Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lowell Adkins and a brother, Jack R. Grose. Survivors include one daughter, Melisa Bennett; one granddaughter, Shelli Davis; one grandson, Justin Bennett; a great-granddaughter, Savannah and great grandson, Gadge. Graveside rites and committal service will be on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Dr. Charles D. Miller officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers it was Mrs. Adkins' request that contributions be made to the New River Animal Shelter in Fayetteville or the charity of your choice.
