Eva Mae Frye Gilliam, 88, of Manhattan, KS formerly of Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, March 07, 2005 at Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan, KS. Born January 23, 1917 at Kanawha Falls, WV she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Clara Della Wison Fry. She lived in Oak Hill for 60 years before moving to Manhattan in 1999. Mrs. Gilliam was the owner of the Piece Goods Center in Oak Hill for 29 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle. Eva Mae loved her family and friends and enjoyed cooking, sewing and music. On December 12, 1938 in Fayette County, WV she married Arthur P. Gilliam who preceded her in death on Aug 24, 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Stewart and her husband, Dave, of Manhattan, KS; son, A.P. "Mike" Gilliam and his wife, Jean, of Portmouth, VA; two sisters, Beatrice Waugh of Northfield, OH and Dorothy Birt Callison of Springfield, OH; brother, Cosby Fry of Summersville; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Thursday, March 10, 2005, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be on Friday, March 11, 2005, at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Dr. A. David Stewart officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV. A memorial has been established for the Alzheimer's Disease Association. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.
