Eugene Guyer “Gene” Larrick, Jr. , 84, of Oak Hill, WV died on Thursday, August 26, 2010 after a long, full life. Born October 16, 1925 at Beckley, WV he was the son of the late Eugene Guyer Larrick, Sr. and Nellie May Harlow Larrick. Gene was a 1943 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley. He was a proud veteran of World War II serving in the US Marine Corps in the South Pacific. Mr. Larrick worked at Long-Airdox Company of Oak Hill for over 40 years serving as comptroller and treasurer until his retirement. A member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, Gene served on the Trustee Committee and Administrative Board. He was also past mayor of Oak Hill serving from 1987 until 1995 and was active in many civic and charitable groups. He was a life member of the Elks Club of Beckley and past president of the Oak Hill Rotary Club where he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow in 1998. His wife of 52 years , Dorcas Prilliman Wheeler Larrick and a brother, Don Larrick preceded him in death. Survivors include one sister, Patty Larrick Cook of Beckley; two sons, Gregory Larrick of Dallas, TX and Tim Larrick and wife, Susan of Summersville; five grandchildren, Lindsey Duke of Richmond, VA, , Kristen Larrick of Morgantown, Timothy Larrick, II of Summersville, Molly Larrick of Dallas, TX and Caroline Larrick of Dallas, TX and one great granddaughter, Ava Leigh Duke of Richmond, VA. Services will be on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Charles D. Miller and Rev. James E. Shepherd officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Visitation will be held at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church on Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
