Eugene E. Bowyer, Sr.

Eugene Edward Bowyer, Sr., age 73 of Beckley, WV formerly of Maple Fork, WV passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011 at his residence. Born May 22, 1937 at Willis Branch, WV, he was the son of the late George and Martha Mae Pinkerton Bowyer. Mr. Bowyer was a salesman having worked in the mining equipment industry and was a member of the Packs Branch Baptist Church. He served his county with the US Air Force. Eugene was preceded in death by his first wife, Claudine Ison Bowyer and by a son, Jimmie Wayne Bowyer. Surviving are, his wife, Jessie Mae Brooks Bowyer of Beckley; his two sons, Eugene E. Bowyer, Jr. of Huntington, WV and David Bowyer and his wife Patricia of Beckley, and four step children, Margarett Hay and her husband Phillip of Lebanon, Pa, Nancy Cummings and her husband Greg of Vale, NC, James Brooks and his wife Marcia of Rock Hill, SC and Lisa Snavely and her husband Tom of Lebanon, PA. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Tyree Funeral Home at Mount Hope, WV with Pastor Sam Vance officicating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge memorial Gardens at Prosperity with military graveside services conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Sunday. Men of the Packs Branch Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family ask the donations be made in Mr. Bowyer's memory to Hospice of Southern WV, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25801.
