Ethel Marie Brown McClung, 95, of Skelton, WV died on Monday, August 09, 2004 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley,WV just 21 days before her 96th birthday. Born August 30, 1908 at Prudence, WV she was the daughter of the late George and Gertrude Fisher Brown. Ethel was a resident of Skelton for 61 years. In the 50's and 60's she was employed at the Pagoda Shopping Center where she was affectionately known as "Mis Ethel." She attended the Cotton Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies' Sunday School Class and the Ladies' Mission Circle. She was also one of the "Quilting Ladies" of the Calloway Heights Baptist Church. With her pleasing smile and happy attitude, she was a joy and inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Reynolds McClung on February 12, 1974; her son-in-law, Donald Bazzie; a sister, Lillian Brown and by three brothers, Clarence, Melvin and James Brown.. Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Bassie of Bradley; a sister, Margaret Heron of Beckley and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and on Thursday, August 12, 2004, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Services will be on Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Pastors Bill Parker, Maynard Kessler and Danny Sears officiating. Entombment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV Men of the Cotton Hill Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
