On Wednesday, October 5, 2011, Mrs. Ethel Mae Callahan Bowling, age 83, passed peacefully from this world into Glory with her family by her side. Born November 10, 1927 at Pulaski, VA she was the daughter of the late James L. Callahan, Sr. and Ethel Lee Fuller Callahan. Mrs. Bowling was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill. Raised in Winding Gulf she attended Collins High School in Epperly. Last employed as a Greeter at Walmart, Ethel Mae will also be remembered as a former employee at Midget Markets, A&P and for Lillybrook Coal Company. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved spending her time with all the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband, Eddie Ray Bowling, Sr., two sons, James Wallace Bowling and Teddy Criss Bowling, granddaughter, Carrie Beth Bowling and brothers, J.L. Callahan, Jr., Edgar B. "Eddie" Callahan and Bobby L. Callahan all preceded her in death. Surviving are her much loved family which include children, Linda Richardson and husband, Steve, Eddie Bowling and wife, Mary Jayne and Mike Bowling and wife, Donna all of Oak Hill, brothers, Harold G. Callahan and wife, Kitty of Oak Hill, and Harry Bill Callahan and wife, Linda of Beckley and a sister, Betty Maxam and husband, Don of Ohio. Also surviving are grandchildren, Dennis Richardson of Oak Hill, Glen Richardson of Lebanon, KY, Andrea Nelson and husband, Chris of Stafford, VA, Ben Bowling of Oak Hill, Christopher Bowling and wife, Brooke of Fayetteville and Jarrod Bowling of Oak Hill, great grandchildren, Michael and Monica Richardson, Harley, Brooklyn and Taylor Richardson, Nathaniel and Ian Nelson and Peyton "Peanut" Bowling and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill with Rev. Mark Wood officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be sent at
