Esther Charlotte Brooks Ellison

Esther Charlotte Brooks Ellison, 91, of Oak Hill, WV, died Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. Born August 3, 1922, in Fayetteville, WV, she was the daughter of the late John Erle and Sarah Edith Pickett Brooks. She was the grand daughter of Rev. Charles Albert and Edith Rose Howard Pickett with whom she made her home. She was married to George Milton Ellison on June 16, 1951 until his death on January 30, 1991. Esther Graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1940. Studied with Mac Farland School of Floristry, Cary,NC and New York School of Interior Desigh in New York City. She was Owner and Operator of Summersville Floral and Esther's House in Summersville from 1966 thru 1983. She was Society Editor of the Fayette Tribune from 1967 thru 1951 and was a cashier at the Oak Hill and Mayfair theaters from 1938 thru 1947. She was also a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Oak Hill, and Woodland Oaks Garden Club. Survivors include Son, George Timothy “Tim” Ellison of Summersville, WV, Daughter, Rose Pickett Ellison Grove of Douglasville, GA; Grand-daughter April Brooke Reece of Lawrenceville, GA and brother William Edward Brooks of Houston, TX. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Oak Hill, WV with Rev.Roy Crist officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, WV Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the Church on Tuesday.
