Ester F. Hinte

Ester Faye Bowyer Hinte , 69, of Oak Hill, WV passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV surrounded by her loving family and special friend, Carol Hambrick. Born September 06, 1941 at Scarbro, WV she was the daughter of the late Hayden Rice and Faye E. Bowyer Tompkins. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolyn Ann Hinte. She was raised by her loving maternal grandparents, Charles and Annice Bowyer who also preceded her in death. When Ester was first diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer in March of 2007 she told everyone “the cancer may be on Stage IV but my God is on Stage I.” As a family we know Ester is now on Stage I in Heaven enjoying her renewed health. She was a retired Admission Clerk for Plateau Medical Center. Ester was a member of the Scarbro United Methodist Church where she shared her beautiful gift of music with the congregation, serving as pianist for many years. She also gave of her time and talent for many area funerals. She was member of the Scarbro United Methodist Women, served as church secretary, membership secretary, program leader, and in various other capacities including Lay Speaker. She was a 1959 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill. Ester always tried to brighten the corner where she was. She will be missed. She is survived and sadly missed by her husband of 52 years, Clifford Hinte, her twins - son, Derryl Hinte of Scarbro and daughter, Sheryl Elkins and husband, Dean of Oak Hill and grandson, Keith Elkins. She is also survived by one brother, Earl Rice and wife, Diane of Hopewell, VA and a sister, Yvonne Dempsey and husband, D.J. of Oak Hill and by many extended family members and friends, including Scotty Foster. The family would like to extend their thanks for Dr. Rajiv Khanna and staff at the Raleigh Regional Cancer Center for their wonderful care, Dr. Ryan Newell for his care and concern and the staff at Plateau Medical Center. Services will be on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Helen R. Oates , Pastor David Messer and Rev. Michael Kessinger officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Autism Angel Fund, 2401 South Kanawha Street, Suite 106, Beckley, WV 25801 (this fund will be used to continue recovery for her grandson, Keith) or to the Scarbro United Methodist Church, PO Box 266, Scarbro, WV 25917.
