Estel Monda Sexton Sr., 83, of Oak Hill, WV died on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, FL following along illness. Born April 08, 1921 at Jenkins, KY he was the son of the late Merida Sexton and Clara Huckaby Sexton Barnhart and stepson of the late Lewis Arthur Barnhart. He was a retired coal miner for Royal Coal Company, Fayette Station. Mr. Sexton was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bulis "Boots" Sexton. Survivors include wife, Edna J. Romage Sexton; sons: Estel M. "Etchie" Sexton, Jr. and wife, Treatha, and Charles Ray Sexton and wife, Margaret, all of Oak Hill; daughters, Dorothy Ray and husband, Roger, of Port Charles, FL and Sharon Alexander of Oak Hill; a sister, Merida Legg of Scarbro; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Saturday, October 23, 2004, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Services will be on Sunday, October 24, 2004, at 2:00 pm at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Daniel Legg officiating. Entombment will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
