Eslie Bills, Jr., 75, of Kincaid WV took the checkered flag in the race of LIFE on February 1, 2023. After cancer threw him a red flag, his race was over. Born June 11, 1947 in Huntington, WV, he was preceded in death by his parents Eslie and Mae James Bills and sister Jackie Nugen.
He is survived by his pit crew in life, loving wife of 59 years Sheila, daughter Cindy McGuffin (Denny) of Charlotte, NC, son Keith Bills (Lisa) of Milton, WV; grandsons Alex McGuffin (Dana), Bryce Ryan (Hannah), Seth Cobb-McGuffin; granddaughters Haley Mosley (Jonathan), Haley McGuffin, Chloe Bills, Caity Bills; great grandchildren Jaxon Ryan, Jovie Fruit; sister Anjelik Farley (George) of Belle, WV, brother Shane Bills of Page, WV; in-laws Bill Richardson (Becky), Lynn Petry (Ben), Lecrecia Wilson and numerous nephews and nieces.
Eslie was a veteran of the US Army. He owned and operated several businesses in his lifetime. These included several TV cable systems, gas and convenience stores, logging company, home construction company, home heating company, rock query, rock crushing company and of course three race tracks. His efforts included the construction of the current sanctuary of both Page and Deepwater Baptist Churches.
His favorite past time was dirt track racing. Known to his fans as “The Hulk”, his impressive career spanned 48 years over six (6) decades. This included over 50 late model feature wins and multiple track championships. His animated personality in the pits was as popular as his smash-the-throttle style driving. Southern WV racing will certainly miss his “Hollywooding” pit presence with his Hawaiian style shirts, big smile and bigger heart!
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Page Baptist Church on Saturday February 4, 2023. Family will receive friends from 11:00am-1:00pm with service at 1:00pm conducted by Rev. Delmas Wolfe and Rev. Keith Cook.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Page Baptist Church or Southern WV Hospice.
