With his loving family by his side, Ernest Ray Dickinson , 63, of Oak Hill, WV died on Tuesday, June 01, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born September 17, 1946 at Mount Hope, WV he was the son of the late William Ray and Florence Elizabeth Perry Dickinson. Ernie grew up at Kimberly, WV and went to Montgomery High School. He was a disabled coal miner and also a former employee of Long Airdox in Oak Hill. He was a proud member of Local Union 8843 and the UMWA and a former member of the White Oak Country Club. He was a US Navy veteran having served from 1965 to 1969. The family would like to thank the CCU staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital, 3rd floor South nursing staff at Charleston General Hospital, Dr. Bruce Petersen and staff, Dr. Julia Espirita, Dee, Kelli and staff and Susie Murphy for the wonderful care that Ernie received from them during his illness. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 44 years, Wanda Reese Dickinson; a daughter, Brigitte A. Chandler of Beckley; a son, William E. Dickinson of Oak Hill and two brothers, Charles "Chuck" Dickinson of Smithers and Frank "Mac" Dickinson of Riverview, FL. He is also survived by his six wonderful grandchildren who meant the world to him, Brittany and Brandon Chandler, Austin, Kylie, Garrick and Alik Dickinson. One of his greatest joys was taking these grandchildren to breakfast at McDonald's or to the local golf course to play golf. A memorial service will be on Thursday June 3, 2010 at 8:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. with his good friend Pastor Rudell Bloomfield officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
