Erma Louise Ellis

Erma Louise Pittman Ellis Louise received her new body and heavenly reward when she departed this life on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. She passed away at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley following a sudden illness. She made her home at Cranberry for nearly 60 years. She was known in Raleigh and surrounding counties for her music ministry on WOAY TV and Radio and was part of the Skelton Trio. Louise sang with the trio and individually at more than 2000 funerals over a span of 50 years. She lovingly shared her music to comfort families during their time of sorrow. Louise enjoyed playing her guitar and working in her yard and garden. Born September 16, 1925 at Willis Branch, WV she was the daughter of the late Carl and Virginia Belle Davis Pittman. Her husband, Carl E. Ellis, sister, Lodema Addison and a brother, Herbert Pittman preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Wayne Ellis and wife, Helena of Beaver; daughter, Patricia Jean McKinney and husband, Marvin of Hickory, NC; four grandchildren, Angela Gragg and husband, Jon of Hudson, NC, Meghan Houck and husband, Chris of Beckley, Rebecca Sigmon and husband, Clay of Newton and Lindsay Ellis of Columbus, OH and three great grandchildren, Abigail and Jake Gragg of Hudson, NC and Wyatt Sigmon of Newton, NC. She is also survived by three brothers, Herman Pittman and wife, Irene of Maple Fork, Carl Pittman, Jr. and wife, Shirley of Bradley and Jack Benny Pittman and wife, Teresa of Maple Fork; two sisters, Lucille Hurd of Maple Fork and Patsy Legg of Beckley and a brother-in-law, William "Junior" Addison of Maple Fork. Services will be on June 26, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Gene Greer officiating. Committal service will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Prosperity for Rev. Gene Green officiating. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 to 1:30 PM Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
