Eric Dale Richardson

On June 18th, 2015, Eric (Rick) & Joyce Richardson departed this life, tragically, in a motor vehicle accident, leaving a void in the lives of everyone they touched. Rick, 68, and Joyce, 65, resided in Dothan , WV .
Rick was born on April 12, 1947, in Beckley , WV , to Henry & Lilly Richardson, the youngest son of 6 children. He attended Trap Hill Middle School .
Joyce was born on May 13, 1950, in Carl , WV , to Charles & Madeline Slaughter, the baby girl of three children. She attended Crichton High School .
Rick served in the ARMY and upon his discharge, he met his beautiful bride, Joyce Sue Slaughter, on a blind date. Four months later they were married on August 16, 1969, in Rainelle , WV , with strong opposition from her mother. On this date, they began their lifelong journey together. In the early 70s, they moved to Wyoming County to raise their family. This would be where Rick would come to know Jesus Christ as his Savior and Joyce would soon follow.
For the remainder of their lives, Rick & Joyce would touch so many people with their kindness and love for everyone. The last 8 years they have lived in Dothan , WV , where Joyce would discover her love of flower gardens and to the surprise of anyone that knew her ~ birds?!?! Joyce loved to travel and told everyone, "if the car's moving, I'm in it!" She loved her family and was so proud of each of her children and grandchildren. They attended Mabscott Holiness Church and were so in love with their church family.
Rick & Joyce are survived by their daughter, Erica Ellis and husband Gary; sons, Patrick, Charles (CT), and David; two grandsons, Eric Cozart and wife Kim, and Jonah Richardson; one great grandson, Garrett Cozart; Rick's brothers, Earl and Steve; sisters, Alice, Sharon and Elsie; Joyce's brother, Ralph and wife Shirley; sister Judy Carol. Joyce also had three fur babies; dogs, Roscoe and Blondie; cat Leo. Many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends are also left behind with this tragic loss.
They were preceded in death by their parents; daughter, Mavis Konadu Agyemang; grandson, Trevor Lee Cozart; Joyce's brother Charles Keith Slaughter;
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 26, 2015, at 5pm, at Mabscott Holiness Church with Brandon Carag leading the service and Bishop Buzz Keller and Reverend Ed Tucker officiating. Service will begin at 5pm followed by visitation with the family afterward.
