Elmer Osborne, 82, of Mount Hope, WV went to his eternal reward, Friday, January 11, 2007, at the VA Medical Center in Beckley, WV. Born on May 6, 1925, Elmer was the son of the late Mack and Jennie Sawyers Osborne of Marvin in Buchannan County, VA. Survivors include his beloved wife of 46 years, Rev. Dorothy Osborne; step-daughter, Carol St. Clair and husband, William of Norfolk, VA; step-son, Jefferson H. Oliver and wife, Glenna of Lewisberry, PA and 6 grandchildren, Wanda Lewis and husband, Mark of Lake-in-the Hills, IL., Sonja Sedgh and husband, Amir of Jacksonville, FL., Stacy Baber and husband, Hans of Jacksonville, FL., Shannon Cherian and husband, Roy of Algonquin, IL., Nathan St. Clair of Scarbro, WV., and Teresa Fulton and husband, Brian of Parachuto, CO. Elmer was preceded in death by his beloved brothers, Tom, King, Noah and Robert Osborne and sisters, Nanny Elswick, Molly Webb, Tiny Rasnake and Kathryn Powers. Additional survivors include his sister, Daisy Burke, Raven, VA ; one brother Tivis Osborne and wife, Judy of Cedar Bluff, VA., and a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Elmer served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was wounded in the “Battle of the Bulge”. He received honors for “Purple Heart,” “Good Conduct,” World War Victory Ribbon, and Parachutist Badge 505th Infantry in the European Theatre of Operations. He entered his military life Oct. 25, 1943, was Honorably discharged Feb. 28, 1946. Early in his life, Bro. Elmer sang and played the fiddle with the Virginia Mountain Rangers String Band on WRIC, Richlands, VA. Bro. Elmer dedicated his life to the Lord, serving God for over 52 years. He was the prayer support behind every ministry of his wife, Dorothy, from Pastor, Evangelist, TV, and Radio ministry with WOAY for 29 years. They recently entered into TV ministry with the “Spirit of Victory” program at LFTV in Abingdon, VA. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope, WV on Wednesday, January 17, 2008, from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm. The “Celebration of Life of Bro. Elmer” will be held Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the LifeBridge Assembly of God, 1513 East Main Street, Oak Hill (across from King Coal Chevrolet) with Rev. Darrell Stapleton officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity with military graveside services conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ryan, Phillip and David Cook, Joshua, Benjamin and Gabriel Cherian and Denzel and Ethan Lewis with honorary pallbearers Mark Lewis, Roy Cherian, Ira Lee and Matthew Bowyer.
