Elizabeth Ann Underwood

Elizabeth Ann Vance Underwood, 77, of Bradley, WV passed away on Friday, November 14, 2008 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born August 2, 1931 at Kilsyth, she was the daughter of the late Deck and Louise Murdock Vance. She was a retired cook from Bradley Elementary School. Elizabeth was a member of the Mount Hope Christian Church and the Women's Christian Fellowship of the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Miller and one brother, Charles Lee Vance. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, E. G. Underwood of Bradley; two sons, Larry Underwood and wife, Shirley, Maple Fork and Terry Underwood and wife, Shelby, Oak Hill; one daughter, Melanie Bower and husband, Jim, Beckley; one sister, Carol Roles and husband, Jay, Beckley; five grandchildren, Tara Johnson, Dawn Ruff, Jamie Clay, Michelle Smith and Brittany Clay; and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Bowers Hospice House and Raleigh General Hospital staff on 2 South for their kindness and care. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Hope with Minister Julian Grubb and Minister Paul Zutaut officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call from 6 until 8 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home.
