Edward Wayne "Caveman" Thomas , 62, of Oak Hill, WV died on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV.
Born September 25, 1951 at Oak Hill, WV he was the son of the late Robert C. Thomas, Sr. and Lovey F. McClung Thomas.
He worked in construction as a concrete finisher and carpenter.
Wayne was a 1969 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill. He was a US Army veteran
serving with the 3rd Armored Division as an artiliary surveyor.
A brother, Danny Thomas preceded him in death.
He is survived by a loving and devoted family which includes his wife, Sherry Louise Legg Thomas; two daughters, Lorrie Thomas Jasper and husband, Sam of Canvas and Brittney Thomas of Oak Hill; stepson, Cecil O'Dell, III and wife, Tina of Oak Hill; and three brothers, Robert Thomas, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Oak Hill, Jim Thomas of Oak Hill and Brian Thomas of Greenville, SC.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Sammy Jasper, Ashley Jasper, Meghann Long, Dylan Long-Cook, Larkin Long-Cook and Kinley O'Dell and by several nieces and nephews.
Wayne was cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Good Evening Ranch, 539 Exotic Drive in Canvas, WV.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the General Purpose Fund at the VA Medical Center (make checks to VAVS) 2000 Veteran's Avenue, Beckley WV 25801.
