Edward Ray Slaughter

Edward Ray Slaughter , 55, of Mabscott, WV formerly of Newberry, SC died on Wednesday, August 03, 2011 at CAMC - General Division in Charleston, WV following a stroke. Born September 11, 1955 at Hopewell, VA he was the son of the late Charles Hess and Doris Prather Slaughter. Ed worked for Cecil I. Walker Machinery having transferred from SC Caterpillar. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Slaughter was a US Navy veteran. Two brothers, Forrest Slaughter and Dewayne Slaughter preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Griffith Slaughter, the mother of his children, Jean Dutton and their two children, Erica Larsen and husband, Gary of Sumter, SC and Stephen Slaughter and wife, Rachel of Hopewell, VA, and a brother, Bobbie Slaughter of Oak Hill. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Haley Slaughter, Gary Larsen and Lillian Larsen and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 12:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Linda K. Kneece officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
