Gene Edward Evans , 75, of Hilltop, WV went to be with Jesus on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at his home. Born November 21, 1935 at Minden, WV he was the son of the late Elmer and Garnett E. Toney Evans. Mr. Evans was a retired coal miner. He attended the Church of God and was a member of UMWA Local 3029. Two sons, Dennis Allen Evans and Kenneth Joseph Evans and a sister, Ruby Cox preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nancy Anne McNeeley Evans, five sons, Gene L. Evans and wife, Carolyn of Craigsville, Cecil R. Evans and wife, Sherry of Hilltop, Leonard W. Evans and wife, Lucy of Hilltop, Kenneth L. Hubbard and wife, Tina of Flint, Mich. and Keith E. Hubbard and wife, Melinda of Beckley, four daughters, Melody A. Evans and husband, Robert of Charlotte, NC, Dorothy M. Maner and husband, Conrad of Savannah, GA, Terri G. Ruetsch and husband, Cliff of Moyock, NC and Minnie F. Evans McCune of Hilltop, one brother, Elmer G. Evans of Oak Hill and four sisters, Dorothy M. Settle of Mossy, Hazel Roman of Bradley, Shirley Byrd of Oak Hill and Betty Byrd of Beckley. Also surviving are thirty two grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and his church family. Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Freddy Parkins officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
