Edith Sammons Price Bobbitt, age 97, of Fayetteville, WV died on Saturday, October 8, 2011 after a lengthy battle with health issues. Edith was born December 12, 1913 in Logan County, WV to the late Melvin and Laura Hardin Sammons. She was preceded in death by her husbands Robert L. Price, Sr. and Lee Otis Bobbitt. She was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mollie and Harold Gore, brothers, Melvin F. Sammons, Jr. and Donald Edwin Sammons and by one step daughter Linda Morrison. She is survived by her son, Robert L. Price, Jr. and wife Rebecca Price of Palm Beach Gardens, Fl and by one grandson, Robert L. Price III of Austin, TX. Also surviving are a sister, Barbara Dyer and husband Don Dyer of Roanoke, Va, step daughters, Ann Strickler and Patricia Cox, nieces, Dara Dyer, Dawn Hrynyshyn, Karen Price, Tamy Bostic and by a sister-in-law, Janet Quick and by a special care giver, Amie McCarthy. Edith graduated from Logan High School and Marshall University with a BA Degree in Education. She was a teacher in Logan, Raleigh and Fayette Counties before retiring after 33 years. She was a member of and officer of many organizations including WVEA and FCEA, Fayette Study Club, Woman's Club and founding member of Delta Kappa Gama Sorority. A member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church since 1954 and she was also a member of Mary Donnelly Circle for over 40 years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Sneed officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum #3. Friends may call a the Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill from 6-8 P.M. On Wednesday, October 12, 2011 and at the church one hour prior to services on Thursday. Dale McGraw, John Janney, John Morrison, Barney Stinnett, Gary Moore and Bob Brash will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be sent to www.tyreefuneralhome.com .
