Edith Smith Dempsey , 98, of Oak Hill, WV died on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.
Born September 06, 1916 at Coke Oven Hollow, Page, WV she was the daughter of the late John and Ora Hamilton Smith.
She was a retired sales clerk having worked at Aide's Shoe Store and the Qualtiy Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Leon Dempsey in 1969; son, Robert Dempsey; sister, Virginia Neff and a brother, Thomas Owen Smith.
Survivors include daughter, Ruth Riner of Oak Hill, WV; son, William W. Dempsey of Elkton, MD; two sisters, Nina Zornes of Haw River, NC and Donna Williams of Charleston, WV; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren
Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Rick Edwards officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
