Earl Darrell Shaffer, 72, of Oak Hill died Friday, June 23, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Beckley, following a long illness. Born March 7, 1934 at Hilltop, WV, he was the son of the late W. E. "Bill" and Marjorie Legg Shaffer. He was a retired barber and hair stylist. Darrell was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oak Hill where he filled many positions including deacon, Sunday School superintendent, and secretary and treasuer of the church. Darrell was also an outstanding amateur photographer having won several awards while a member of the Cameras in Action Camera Club and was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Grace Ann Boyd Shaffer of Oak Hill; daughter, Terri Ann Johnson and husband, "Beavo" of Oak Hill; a brother, Jack L. Shaffer of Houston, Texas; a nephew, Robert Shaffer and children, Taylor, Caleb and Shawn Shaffer of Houston, Texas; a niece, Townya Miller of Galveston, Texas. Services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 27, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Oak Hill with the Rev. Winston O'Neal officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 6 PM until 8 PM Monday, June 26, 2006, at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill.
