Earl "Ram" Rodes

Earl "Ram" Rodes, 86, of Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, May 08, 2006 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born October 30, 1919 at Gatewood, WV he was the son of the late Ira and Lula McClung Rodes. Mr. Rodes was the retired owner of Rodes Wrecking and also retired from the Merchants and Miners National Bank, Oak Hill. He was a World War II US Air Force veteran having served in the Pacific Theater. Ram was a member of the Oak Hill Lodge # 120 AF & AM, Sewell Chapter #24 R.A.M., Mount Hope Commandery #22 K.T. and the Beni Kedem Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. His first wife, Pearl Hall Rodes and his second wife, Pat Wheeler Rodes preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, Tom Rodes and wife, Judy, of Fayetteville; four stepsons, Tom Wheeler of Germany, David Wheeler and Steve Wheeler both of Fayetteville and John Wheeler of Lochgelly; two stepdaughters, Sandy Bias of Oak Hill and Tammy Brown of Lochgelly; one brother, Pete Rodes of Gatewood; two sisters, Madora Ballard of Gauley Bridge and Tatsy Etchinson of Galion, OH; one granddaughter, Leigh Ann Wolfe and husband, Shawn, of Oak Hill; two great grandchildren, Thomas Seth Wolfe and Shawna Wolfe of Oak Hill and nine step grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be on Thursday, May 11, 2006, at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. David White officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill. Robert Begley, Tim Richardson, Tom Stafford, Rick Pannell, Jr., Shawn Wolfe and James Fox will serve as pallbearers with Jerry Turley as honorary pallbearer.
