Dr. Charles Webster Akers

Dr. Charles Webster Akers, 98, of Oak Hill passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Oak Hill Place in Oak Hill, WV.

Born April 6, 1926 in Beaver, WV he was the son of the late Ulysses and Bessie Martin Akers.

Charles was a proud WWII United States Navy Veteran. He taught at Shady Spring High School, Concord University, West Virginia University and graduated with a  PH.D from Ohio University. Charles worked as the Assistant Superintendent of Fayette County Board of Education. He was a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion, Lions Club, Elk Club, and Plateau Club.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memory include his loving wife of 77 years, Marie Payne Akers; sister, Lois Mae Mustard; nephew, Charles Mustard; and special friends, David and Karen Doner.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Ken Krimmel officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, WV.

Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to the service at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
