In loving memory of Douglas Walker Burnside , 75, of Mossy, WV, forever in our hearts and always in our minds, who died on Thursday, March 08, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Born May 05, 1942 at Mossy, WV he was the son of the late Barney Nelson and Arizona Agnes Aliff Burnside.
He attended Mossy Living Word Church to worship and praise the LORD. One of his greatest enjoyments was watching his grandchildren play baseball and softball and another was celebrating birthdays and holidays with family. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan in everything they did. He also served his country with pride as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps.
We are thankful for the time spent and cherish all the memories. He was loved by many and loved many in return. Doug will be missed and always loved.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Sue Day Burnside; infant son, Douglas W. Burnside, Jr.; brothers, Ballard Burnside and Hansford "Pope" Burnside; sister, Rosa Jane Burnside Heflin; infant granddaughter, Audra Aliff.
Survivors include son, Timmy Burnside; daughters, Sandy (Bruce Massie) and children, Tina (Holly Bunnell), and Christy (Jeff Aliff); brother, Dale Burnside; grandson Josh Aliff (Leah), granddaughter, Renea Aliff (Logan Hornsby; two great grandsons, Easton and Brody Aliff; along with several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and they in return.
Services will be on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. at Mossy Living Word Church with Rev. Paul Basham officiating. Burial will be at Rinehart Cemetery, Mossy.
Visitation will be held at Mossy Living Word Church on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Josh Aliff, Seth Hylton-Schoolcraft, Logan Hornsy, Chris Burnside, J.B. Heflin, Dillon Burnside and Jerry Scarbro.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Tyree Funeral Home to assist with expenses.
