Dorothy Elizabeth Smith Combs, 96, of Red Star, WV died on Tuesday, March 03, 2009 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born June 06, 1912 at Sewell, WV she was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Smith) Smith. Mrs. Combs was a member of the Harvey United Methodist Church where she was membership secretary for over 50 years and member and past President of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Mount Hope Federated League. Her husband, Thomas Wiley Combs and a son, Thomas Andrew Combs preceded her in death. . Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Jane Vance and husband, Archie of Red Star and Mary Katherine Kincaid and husband, Gerald of Red Star and three sons, Albert Russell Combs and wife, Francine of Oak Hill, Arthur Lee Combs and wife, Louise of Corbin, KY and Fredrick Combs and wife, Lisa of Versailles, KY. Seventeen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren, two great-great-great grandchildren as well as two special friends, Diane McKinney and Beverly Burnette also survive her. Services will be on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Harvey United Methodist Church in Harvey with Rev. William Slates officiating. Burial will be at the Hilltop Cemetery, Hilltop WV. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Harvey United Methodist Church, PO Box 225, Glen Jean, WV 25846.
