Dorothy Mae (Burgess) Baber, 88, of Summerlee, WV died peacefully at her home early Saturday morning, August 30, 2014 after complications from a stroke a week before.
Born January 9, 1926 at Minden, WV, she was the daughter of the late Fred Harmon Burgess and Dottie Ann (Pitsenbarger) Burgess.
Dorothy was a member of the Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle. She was a joy to anyone who knew her, always smiling, always a kind word, always so loving and giving. She loved to garden, crochet and above all she loved for her family to gather at her house for meals together. She was without a doubt, the greatest person we knew, she will be missed more than we can put into words. We were always greeted with open arms, a huge smile and a pat on the back. Today, she greeted those who were waiting on her the same way!
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Kendall Baber, an 8 year old son Larry Wayne Baber, a grandson, Luke Silas Baber and a brother, Darrell Lee Burgess.
She is survived by her children, Janet Ann Baber Nahodil of Oak Hill, Dreama Lee Roepke of Colorado, Darrell Kendall “Sonny” Baber and wife, Diana of Oak Hill and Danny Ray Baber and wife, Tembra of Summerlee; her grandchildren, Becky Nahodil Pritt and husband, David of Oak Hill, Dana Roepke Neugebauer and husband, Gene of Colorado, Renee Roepke Montano and husband, Phil of Colorado, Christy Baber of Beckley, Skye Baber of Pensacola, FL, Sara Baber of Morgantown, Dillon Baber and Andrew Baber of Summerlee, her great grandchildren, Elliott Pritt and wife, Jessica of Oak Hill, Aaron Pritt of New Bern, NC, Daniel Pritt of Bethany, WV, Jillian Warren and Allison Warren of Colorado, and her great-great grandchildren, David Abel Pritt and Dorothy Lynn Pritt of Oak Hill, her brother, Raymond Burgess and wife, Eloise of Oak Hill and her sister, Agnes Ransom and husband, Cletis of Oak Hill.
