Doris Christine (Williams) Stover

Doris Christine Williams Stover, 79, of Pax, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley with her loving family by her side.

Born June 2, 1945 in Artie, WV she was the daughter of the late Murphy and Ada Stover Williams.

Doris worked in housekeeping and was a proud member of the Long Branch United Methodist Church. She found joy in her faith and building lasting friendships. Doris loved her church family. In her leisure she enjoyed reading her Amish books, gardening, watching her flowers bloom, crocheting, and she especially loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

Doris loved to send cards and receive cards from her friends and family. In her own simple way this was a ministry of encouragement to everyone she knew.

Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, James P. Stover, and by her first husband Charles Dayton Ferris; and brothers and sisters, Lawrence Williams, Gentry Williams, Roland Williams, Stanford Rex Williams, Ruth Williams, Annette Stover, Magdalene Williams, and Thomas Williams.

Those left to cherish her wonderful memory include her 6 children, Charles Dennis Ferris and companion Terri Jones, Deloris Sue Burton (Michael), Amanda Kaye Allen (Rodney), Patty Maynor (Donald), Tammy Young, and Nancy Cochran (Danny); 9 grandchildren, Micheal D. Burton (Russell), Brandon Burton and companion Sierra Summers, James Allen (Kayla), Matthew Allen, Katie Taylor (Kyle), Dana Edwards (Jacob), Denise Cochran and companion Tucker, Alan Miller (Holly), and Patricia Spence (Justin); 11 great grandchildren and 2 to arrive this summer; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Becky Meredith and her sons Andrew and Tracie Meredith; and 2 faithful caregivers, Brenda Addison-Turner and Joan Collins.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at the Long Branch United Methodist Church with Pastor Mervin Sizemore officiating. Interment will follow at the Davis cemetery on Delphia Lane off of Maple Fork Road.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Special thanks to the Bowers Hospice House for their care and compassion in her final hours.
