Doris Isabella Mauritz

She was the daughter of the late Harrison and Consuela Mercer of Hurricane, WV. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Mauritz. She was the last surviving sibling of her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Mauritz Treadway and her son, Frank Mauritz II, both of Oak Hill. Her grandchildren, Preston Mauritz of Oak Hill, Joni Beth Mauritz of Alexandria, VA, Eric Mauritz of Tigard, OR, Kelsey Mauritz of Clarksville, TN, and Frankie Treadway (Natalie) of Flatwoods, WV. She is survived by three great-grandsons, JD and Chase Mauritz of Fayetteville and Maverick Treadway of Flatwoods. Special nieces Theresa Flanagan of Oak Hill, and nephew Jeffrey Mercer of Scott Depot, and Kathy Mercer Neely of Hurricane contributed to her joy.

Doris was co owner of the Frank Mauritz Studio with her husband, founding the studio in 1949 soon after their marriage. She was a noted oil colorist winning the WV colorist of the year before photography went to color film and digital images. At that time she transitioned to office manager until she retired just a few years ago. She loved gardening and canning her vegetables. She attended Oak Hill Baptist Church as long as she was able.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor David Sneed and Pastor Sam Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.

Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home in Oak Hill.
