Doris Jones Cheetham

Doris Jean Cheetham, 70, of Mount Hope, WV passed away at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV on Thursday, May 12, 2011, following a short illness. She was born on August 16, 1940, in Harvey, WV the daughter of the late Charles and Jessie L. Cumbow Jones. She will be remembered as a kind and loving person who won the hearts of many and enriched the lives of those who knew her. She was a dedicated federal employee with 37 years of service, receiving many awards for her performance throughout her career. She began her federal career in 1974 for the U. S. Department of Interior, MESA, at District 4 in Mt. Hope. In 1985, she joined the U.S. Army Recruitment Center, and in 1988, she transferred to the U. S. Department of Labor, MSHA, at the National Mine Health and Safety Academy. She spent the last 23 years in the Facilities Maintenance Branch taking care of “her guys”, whom she adored. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Cheetham; and a brother, Donald R. Jones. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Terri (Robert) Keith of Atlanta, GA; and Sandy (Andy) Fox of North Palm Beach, FL; a nephew, Charles “Chuck” Jones of Fredericksburg, VA; a niece, Brandy Jones, of Mt. Hope, and two grandsons, Anthony Lancianese of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Jordan Sadler of Atlanta, GA. She also leaves behind an extended family to mourn her passing. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Mike Kessinger officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.
