Donald Gene Smith, 60, of Pulaski, VA formerly of Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, December 10, 2007 at the home of his father. Born February 11, 1947 at Oak Hill, WV he was the son of Ray L. Smith of Oak Hill, WV and the late Marjorie "Sap" J. Valentine Smith. He was employed with ATK in Radford, VA. Mr. Smith was a US Navy veteran. Don was a member of the United Faith Church of Sparta, NC. He enjoyed family cookouts, yard work and trips to the beach and Florida. He was an avid Virginia Tech fan. A special thanks to the Hospice nurses and to Donna and James Copley, Jean and Burl Burton, Doug and Becky Holly, Dr. Scott Keffer and Don's cousin, Debbie Moore for their thoughts and prayers. Survivors include sister, Joan Dell Stowers and husband, Larry of Oak Hill and their children, Larry A. Stowers of Fayetteville, Becky Gullett and husband, Danny of Victor, Dan Stowers and wife, Kim of Oak Hill and Niki Cochran and husband, David of Oak Hill; brother, David Smith and wife, Kay of Oak Hill and their children, ReDawna Harler and husband, Billy of Page and Tracy Smith of Oak Hill; his best friend, Don Taylor of Marion, VA and his children, Laken and Josh as well as good friends, Doug Dickerson, Drema and Mike Neal and Charles and Gladys Taylor. Services will be on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 5:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Doug Holley and Rev. James Worrells officiating with cremation to follow. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Thursday, December 13, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley WV 25802.
