Donald John Hiltunen

Donald John Hiltunen, 89, of Oak Hill, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in the Beckley VA Medical Center. 

Born February 11, 1935, in South Dakota, he was the son of the late Adolph and Olga (Kemp) Hiltunen. 

Donald was a graduate of Lake Norden High School and South Dakota University. He was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, was a stockbroker, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In his leisure he enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling, and his Friday nights. He was very social and anyone who knew Donald loved him. 

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Virgil, Willard, and Ralph Hiltunen; and his sisters, Mavis Hiltunen and Lillian Barnett. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his niece who was more like a daughter, Jenee Morton and her son, Jude Morton; nephew, Larry Barnett; sister, Linda Gorder; grandchildren, Michael Bailey, Timothy Bailey, and Terri Lynn Bragg; multiple nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors, The Wood's.

Services will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, October 25, 2024 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with Susan Claytor and Wanda Childs officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery, Hilltop. 

Friends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. 

Fuzzy Parrish and David Wood will be pallbearers. 

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Beckley VA Medical Center in the long-term care for the care that was shown to Donald throughout his stay.
