Donald "Don" Delbert Shifflette

Donald "Don" Delbert Shifflette, 82, of Corinne, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024 in a Beckley hospital. 

Born January 20, 1942, he was the son of the late James Bernard and Thelma (Rutherford) Shifflette. 

Don was a 1960 graduate of Mullens High School. Don was a former employee of the Norfolk & Southern Railroad where he had served as a Conductor, Engineer, and Brakeman. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served as Military Honor Guard. Don was on the originating committee for the Mullens Dogwood Festival where he served for 45 years. during his time on the festival committee, you would often see him working with the electricity and he was pyrotechnician and fireworks. Don was a 55 year member of the Mullens Fire Department where he was instrumental in providing programs for youth and was a First Aid CPR Instructor. He was an active member of the Corinne Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was actively involved in his community by being a member of The American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Election poll worker, instructor for the Railroad which provided programs for youth, and was a member of the Southgate CB Club.

When we pause to remember Don, We shall always remember his dedication to his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who he always supported in sporting events. He will be sadly missed by the Mullens Community for his electrical expertise for residence and businesses in Mullens and surrounding areas. 

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte; and two brothers, James and Butch Shifflette. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife, Wanda Shifflette; one son, Michael Shifflette; two grandsons, Michael Shifflette, Jr. and his wife, Amanda and Matt Shifflette and his wife, Melissa; twelve great grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob, Mira, Liam, Samantha, Miranda, Nathon, Dakota, Michael III, Jaedon, Destiny, and McKenzey; three great great grandchildren, Asher, Ravyn, and one due in February, Kainan. 

Services will be 12 Noon, Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the Mullens Pentecostal Holiness Church, Mullens with Pastor Goebel Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. 

Friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at the Mullens Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Members of the Mullens Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
