Donald Jay Dempsey

Donald Jay Dempsey, 74, of Oak Hill, WV died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Fayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fayetteville, WV. Born July 30, 1936 at Minden, WV, he was the son of the late William and Evelyn Johnson Dempsey. He was a retired taxi driver for Morton Taxi Co., Oak Hill and a U. S. Army veteran. One daughter, Brenda Dempsey and one son, Donald Dempsey, Jr. preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Tompkins Dempsey, two sons, Scott Dempsey Dempsey and Darrin Dempsey, both of Raleigh, NC, one daughter, Tonya Woodling, of Raleigh, NC, one stepson, Richie Acevedo of Oak Hill, one stepdaughter, Cindy Acevedo, of Oak Hill, and three step-grandchildren, Anthony Stines, Quintin Acevedo and Madison Acevedo, all of Oak Hill. Per his wishes, Mr. Dempsey was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Friends may call at the home of his niece, Sheryl Elkins, 336 Woodbridge Road, Oak Hill, WV.
