Don Wesley Lawhorn

Don Wesley Lawhorn , 77, of Oak Hill, WV passed away on Friday, March 02, 2012 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born November 24, 1934 at Gatewood, WV he was the fourth child of the late William Harrison Lawhorn and Beulah Vada Toney Lawhorn Roseblock and was stepson of the late George Roseblock. Mr. Lawhorn was a retired US Air Force veteran with 28 1/2 years service. He served his country with honor and distinction having reached the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He saw duty in Germany, France, England, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Spain, Italy, Greece, Sicily and Sardinia as well as numerous bases in the United States. He as a Protestant and a member of the American Legion, VFW and Air Force Sergeant's Association. An infant son, Alan Lawhorn, two brothers, Coy Lawhorn and George Lawhorn and one sister, Edith Ritondo preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 48 1/2 years, Evenda Lawhorn, son, David Lawhorn and wife, Laura of Morganton, NC, daughter, Kelly Cortright and husband, Stephen of Cordova, TN, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Michelle Cartright of Cordova, TN. He is also survived by a brother, Bill J. Lawhorn and wife, Marvella of Oak Hill and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Paul Bricker officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Matt Lawhorn, Keith Lawhorn, Fred Ball, Jr., Jason Ball, Ernest Teaster and William Hacker will serve as pallbearers.
