Delphia Virginia Fitzwater Smith , 89, of Fayetteville, WV died on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV. Born November 17, 1918 at Crickmer, WV she was the daughter of the late Robert Vincent Fitzwater and Ethel Lea Fox Fitzwater Rhodes. Delphia was a member of the Apostolic Holiness Church of Oak Hill. Her pastor was her son-in-law, Rev. Carlos Lewis. She loved the Lord and was known for singing everybody's favorite song, "The Lord will make a way somehow." She was a former Head Housekeeper for the Holiday Inn at Des Plains, IL and had worked at Radio Materials in Skokie, IL before moving back to West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Robert Nelson Smith on May 2, 2007. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Carl Douglas Smith of Savannah, TN and Wesley G. Smith of Kenosa, WI; three sisters, Ella Harrah, Rosa Lea Tyler and Lois Fitzwater and a grandson, Benjamin Carlos Smith of Virginia. Survivors include one daughter, Carol Lewis and husband, Rev. Carlos Lewis of Oak Hill; three sons, Claris W. Smith and wife, Doris of Fayetteville, Robert Nelson Smith, Jr. and wife, Gracie of Hermitage, TN and Carlos Woodrow Smith of Island Lake, IL.; two special daughters-in-law, Jane Smith of Savannah, TN and Ella Smith of Cape Coral, FL.; two brothers, Robert Rhodes of London and Gene Rhodes of Detroit, MI and two sisters: Sylvia Kincaid of Florida and Charlene Shuck of Danese. Mrs. Smith is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild and special nephews that were like her own children, Gary Harrah, Larry Harrah and Michael Gravely. Services will be on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at Apostolic Holiness Church in Oak Hill with Rev. Carlos Lewis Rev. Louis Wooten officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV. Visitation will be held at Apostolic Holiness Church on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
