David Vawter Fox, 55, of Ansted, WV beloved son of Millicent Hill Fox and the late John George Fox, Sr., died on Friday, July 29, 2005 at his home. A longtime native of Ansted and a seventh generation West Virginian, David was the founder and president of Fox Real Estate Appraisers. Mr. Fox was born May 4, 1950 in Oak Hill, WV and grew up in Chevy Chase, MD. He served a president of his high school senior class, graduating from The Harker School in 1969. He graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, GA with a degree in Political Science. During his time at Emory, he served as an aid to then Governor Jimmy Carter. Active in local state politics, Mr. Fox served one term in the WV Legislature and later became Publisher and Editor of the Fayette County Free Press. Other survivors include one daughter, Erica Lynn Martin of Edmond; two sisters, Claudia M. Fox and Nancy Fox Girolami both of Chevy Chase, MD; one brother, John G. Fox, Jr. of Richmond, VA and one nephew, John G. Fox, III of Richmond, VA. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV on Tuesday, August 2, 2005, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be on Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of the Redeemer in Ansted with Father Roy Gene Crist officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Redeemer, PO Box 625, Ansted, WV 25812.
