David Joe Rakes

David Joe Rakes, age 57, of Oak Hill, WV passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston, WV.

Born June 1, 1959 in Oak Hill, WV he was the son of the late Billy Richard Rakes and the late Dorothy Lorena Layton Rakes Campbell.

David was a carpenter having worked for several area companies and attended the Dothan Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Damon Campbell, by a son Billy Joe Rakes, by a brother Billy Richard Rakes, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie S. Duncan Rakes; his daughter, Sarah Blagg; two granddaughters, Holly Rakes and Tawni Toney; his sister, Lorena Lanham and husband, Roger of Rainelle; and three brothers, Mark Rakes of Oak Hill, Duane Rakes and wife, Louise of Fayetteville and Damon Roy Campbell, II of Seattle, WA. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Tyree Funeral Home Oak Hill with Rev. Lum Toney and Pastor L. T. Jordan officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Following services David will be cremated. Graveside rites and committal will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens at Oak Hill with Rev. Lum Toney and Pastor L.T. Jordan officiating and military rites by Oak Hill VFW post 3110.
