Darrell Alton "Budgie" Williams, Sr., 80, of Mount Hope, WV died on Saturday, March 03, 2007 at home. Born January 13, 1927 at Long Branch, WV he was the son of the late Arthur Clate and Junie Irene Saye Williams. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed church and family and was a special friend to all. Budgie was a Christian by faith. He was a World War II US Army veteran, life member of the VFW Post #3110 and as a youth was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. Mr. Williams retired from the Kroger Company in Michigan where he was a resident for 32 years. While living there he served his church as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He was also a union steward for Teamsters Local 337. He also worked for Allied Chemical Company. After retirement, Budgie and his wife, Janice, returned to West Virginia where they made their home in Mount Hope for the last 23 years. A son, David K. Williams; twin daughters, Jean Ann and Janet Sue Williams; one grandson, Gregory A. Williams and three brothers, James H. Williams, Claredon H. Williams and Oscar Keith Williams preceded him in death. Survivors include wife of 63 years, Janice M. Bolen Williams; two sons, Darrell A. Williams, Jr. and wife, Linda and Timothy R. Williams and wife, Jenny ; one daughter, Karen Adams and husband, Ken; three sisters, Sonia Weeks, Shelia Williams and Sharon Holstein; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Charles Johnson, Rev. Wayne Peters and Rev. Daniel Legg officiating.
