Danny Joe Sutphin

Our precious husband, father and grandfather, Danny Joe Sutphin , 67, of Oak Hill, WV died on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV.
Born November 24, 1948 at Sanger, WV he was the son of the late Okley Stafford and Elsie Wilmetta Rich Sutphin.
Dan was a member of the Page Church of God. A retired miner, he had worked for New River Coal Company and later he did maintenance and security for One Valley Bank and Pinecrest Hospital.
He was a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam.
Two brothers, Okley Sutphin, Jr. and Keith Wayne Sutphin; and a sister, Karen Elaine Ayers preceded him in death.
Dan leaves behind a devoted family which includes his loving wife of 48 years, Alice Elizabeth Walker Sutphin; son, Gregory Dan Sutphin and wife, Denise of Roanoke, VA; daughter, Anita Jo Sutphin of Oak Hill; brother, Forrest Lynn Sutphin and wife, Ruth of San Diego, CA; and sister, Sharon Ann Thomas and husband, Darrell of Langsville, OH.
He is also survived by his much adored grandchildren, Blake Andrew Sutphin and Erica Paige Sutphin both of Roanoke; and by many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Jim Elmore officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW #3110.
Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
