Daniel R. Skinner

January 1, 1753 — June 2, 2007

Daniel R. Skinner , 45, of Beckley, WV died on Saturday, June 02, 2007 at his home after a long illness and very courageous battle. There are no words to express the sorrow and void of those he left behind. His family is comforted knowing his mother-in-law, Stella Smith who preceded him in death and loved him so, watched over him during his many hospitalizations, as she retired from Raleigh General Hospital. Dan was the beloved and cherished husband to his wife of 21 years, Julia Skinner and the loving and proud father of Megan M. Skinner both of Beckley, WV. Mr. Skinner was born in Gehuga, OH on Christmas day 1961. He spent his very young years with his grandmother, whom he loved dearly. For the majority of his life, Dan worked in all aspects of construction throughout the East Coast. He was most proud of his historical restoration work on the Thurmond Train Station to the Mount (the Edith Wharton Plantation) in Lenox, MA. He also enjoyed helping neighbors with their projects. Dan loved life and being around his many friends; "once a friend always a friend," bringing humor and laughter along with joking and "tall tales" which earned him the title "Dan, the Man." He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved music and the outdoors. As an animal lover, he especially loved the family mastiffs. Truly a people person, he will continue to help others as an organ donor. Oh God, I know Dan's place is ready. You know he suffered and fought not to leave me. I prayed many times for You to let me borrow him just a littlelonger and You did until... A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, June 8, 2007, at the Christlike Worship Center, 322 N. Eisenhower Drive, Beckley, WV with Pastor Moon officiating.
