Cynthia A. "Pinny" Goldsmith Hill

Cynthia “Pinny” Goldsmith Hill, of Fayetteville, WV passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014. Born on October 14, 1932, in Beckley, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert S. Goldsmith, Sr. and Elizabeth G. Goldsmith. Pinny graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended WVU where she was a pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma. In her lifetime, she was very active as a Scouting leader, a founder and call taker of CONTACT Services (a nonprofit crisis center hotline), an Advisory Board Member of Rescare South, Board Member of Friends of the Fayetteville Library, member of the Woodland Garden Club and volunteer at the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church where she served on the Vestry and as a Senior Warden. Pinny enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking, playing golf and bridge. She lived her life around her family and friends , all of whom she adored. In her later years, she devoted much time to caring for many of her dear friends. Pinny was preceded in death by her husband, C.R. “Bud” Hill, Jr., her parents and siblings, Robert S. Goldmith, Jr. and Mary G. Banks. Survivors include her children, C. R. “Rennie” Hill, III and wife Ann W. Hill, Kathryn H. Dutton, J. William Hill and Mary R. Hill; grandchildren Megan H. Bostwick (Brock), Laura H. Frame (Jeremy), W. Spencer Hill, W. Mason Dutton, Elizabeth R. Dutton; and three great granddaughters. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Oak Hill with Rev. Roy Gene Crist officiating. A reception will follow at the Holiday Lodge, Oak Hill. A private family burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 345 Kelly Avenue, Oak Hill, WV 25901 or the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, 310 W.
