Clinton Dale Skaggs

Clinton Dale Skaggs, 81, of Scarbro, WV passed into the eternal light on Saturday, October 20, 2007, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving daughters and granddaughters. Born June 23, 1926 at Ansted, WV, he was a son of the late James Emory and Madge Hess Skaggs. He was a retired coal miner/laborer for Pack Enterprises and a member of the Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill. Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Jean Hatfield Skaggs; two sons, Douglas Keith and Clinton Dale Skaggs, Jr. and a brother, James Emory Skaggs, Jr. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Shrewsbury and husband, Venton, Beckley, WV and Margaret Armstrong and Danny Pettry, Belle, WV; five grandchildren, Kara Merchant and Fess Polly, Beckley, Sara Staud and Frank, Delta, OH, Brianna Merchant and Casey Massie, Athens, WV, Bradley Armstrong, Scarbro and RaeAnn Pettry, Belle, WV; five great grandchildren, Tyler Staud, Cory Staud, Jim Polly, Kaitlyn Polly, Krista Polly; three sisters, Leona Jordan, Ansted, WV, Carol Woods, NC, Sue Massey, Ansted, WV; two brothers, Richard Skaggs, NC and Paul Skaggs, FL; also survived by countless loving nieces and nephews and friends who are loved as family. The family would like to add a special recognition of thank you to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, specificially nurse, Kelly Cochran, who helped us love him to Heaven. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill with Rev. Daniel Rice officiating. Burial will follow at McVey-Skaggs Cemetery, Victor, WV. Friends may call from noon until 2:00 PM at the church on Tuesday.
