On September 30, 2022, Clinton “Tally” Richmond of Scarbro, WV, passed away to a better place known as “Home of the Soul” at the age of 88. He was born March 1, 1934, in Dothan, WV to the late Herman C. Richmond and Ethel Bragg Richmond. He was their last remaining child and was proceeded in death by four brothers and six sisters. He was also proceeded in death by dear friend and companion Vickie Bragg Roark. He is survived by three daughters, Marla Gaudet of Chippewa Lake, Ohio and her family, grandsons Daniel and Ricky (Christina) and great grandchildren Annabella and Molly, Tina Richmond of Medina, Ohio and Beverlee Richmond of Mission Viejo, CA.
After leaving Oak Hill High School he entered the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Yellowstone (AD-27) in the Sixth Fleet. Upon discharge, he was a labor union electrician for I.B.E.W. Local #71 of Columbus, Ohio, for fifty plus years. Clinton was a member of the ES OES VFW in Ansted, WV (serving as a past VFW commander when living in Brunswick, Ohio, where he raised his family) and American Legion Post #149 in Fayetteville, WV. He had a deep empathy for helping other fellow veterans as well as children and always gladly volunteered to aid in fundraisers for Shriners Hospitals for Children. He passed the importance of service to one’s community to his girls. To those that called him Tally, Pops or Paw-Paw, he was loved and will be dearly missed.
Visitation for family and friends will be at the Dothan Community Church on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., funeral service will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Darrell Fuller officiating with Masonic and military service. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park.
