Clifford Hinte, 81, of Oak Hill, WV passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Charleston Area Medical Center, MICU in Charleston, WV following a long illness, surrounded by his loving son and daughter.
Cliff was born June 17, 1934 at home in Lochgelly, WV he was the son of the late Herman and Lola Brown Hinte.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolyn Ann Hinte; his loving wife of 52 years, Ester Bowyer Hinte;his son-in-law, Dean M. Elkins; and also 6 brothers and 1 sister.
Cliff was retired from the Alcohol Beverage Control Commission (ABCC). He was a member of the Scarbro United Methodist Church where he served as chairperson of the Board, Trustee member and in other various capacities.
Cliff attended Collins High School, earned his GED while serving in the United State Army from November 1956 to September 1959. While serving in the Army he married the love of his life Ester Faye Bowyer on September 6, 1958.
He is survived by and sadly missed by his son, Derryl Hinte; daughter, Sheryl Hinte Elkins; and his only grandchild, Keith Elkins all of Oak Hill.
Also surviving are 2 sisters, Loretta Kemlock Swannigan, of Oak Hill and Madeline Harris of Parkersburg; his brother-in-law Earl Rice (Diane) of Hopewell, VA; sister-in-law Yvonne (Bonnie) Dempsey of Oak Hill; special friends Tony & Zac Harris and Scotty Foster ; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ryan Newell for his care and concern over the past several years, staff of Plateau Medical Center Emergency Department and the staff at Charleston Area Medical Center in the Medical Intensive Care Unit.
Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. with service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Charles Miller and Rev. Dr. Sharon Miller officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Garden in Oak Hill.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Scarbro United Methodist Church, P O Box 266 Scarbro, WV 25917; or Autism Health 2401 S. Kanawha St., Beckley, WV 25801 (this fund will be used to continue the recovery and health for his grandson, Keith) or to the Oak Hill Alumni Associate, Dean M. Elkins scholarship memorial fund, P O Box 462, Oak Hill, WV 25901.
