Claude B. Adkins

Claude Burton Adkins, 79, of Lakeland, FL formerly of Oak Hill, WV died May 25, 2005. Born February 5, 1926 at Oak Hill, WV he was the son of the late Wilson and Darlie M. Treadway Adkins. Claude was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and a member of the OHHS/CHS Alumni Association. He was a World War II veteran of the US Army Air Corps. He was a former employee of CSX and retired CEO of Railroad Engineering, Inc. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Lakeland Runners Club. Survivors include nephews, Dave Adkins of Wilmington, DE and Mark Adkins of Gaithersburg, MD and nieces, Susan Bossert of Coatesville, PA, Betty Heintzelman of Inverness, FL, Anna Rekas of Astoria, NY, Jean Bain of Balboa Island, CA and Victoria Roger of Asheville, NC and many beloved friends. In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Adkins was cremated. His cremains will be interred at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823.
