Clarence L. Butler

Clarence Leo Butler, 82, of Gatewood, WV died on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born September 19, 1924 at Gatewood, WV he was the son of the late Oscar Carl and Lydia Elizabeth Talbert Butler. He was a retired coal miner. Mr. Butler was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Fayetteville, WV. He was also a member of the UMWA, Local #17. His wife, Kathleen Faye Thorne Butler and four brothers, Charles, John, Harry and Ernest Butler preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Doris Anne Hayes of Gatewood, WV; one sister, Elizabeth Marguette Butler Thorne of Oak Hill, WV; three grandchildren, James D. Hayes, Jr. of Oak Hill, WV, Keith Allen Marine of California and Lisa Marie Becker of Virginia Beach, VA; five great grandchildren, Addison, Jackson and Holden Hayes all of Oak Hill, WV and Emily and Wyatt Becker both of Virginia Beach, VA and several special nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Thursday, January 25, 2007, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Services will be on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Ben Gentile officiating. Entombment will be at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley WV 25801.
