Charles "'Charlie"" Jenis Rogers , 72, of Oak Hill, WV passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.
Born November 19, 1948, in Mount Hope, WV he was the son of the late Rev. Leslie Leonard and Eleanor Nary Rogers.
Charlie was a graduate of Charleston High School and Beckley College and was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam era. He was a retired coal mine fire boss.
Always a "car guy," Charlie owned many hot-rods over the years and was very involved in the area cruise-ins and car shows ~~ actually hosting his own cruise-in at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill just 6 Saturdays ago (May 8th.) He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America Whitewater Region in Beckley; Shade Tree Car Club; the UMWA; OWLS Club where he played pool; Skyline Drive In and Beckley Moose Lodge No. 1606.
He is survived by daughters; Tammy L. Rogers (Robert Hall), Lisa M. Landon, and Shirley B. Kiefer, grandson; Nicholas P. Martin, brother; Richard Rogers, and sister; Judith A. Rogers-Coleman.
His first wife, Carol Jeanne Young Kiefer Rogers (Nov 27, 1995) and second wife, Cora Ann Cadle Rogers (Jan 14, 2021) along with a brother, Leslie Leonard Rogers, Jr., sisters; Eleanor Jane Rogers and Shirley Ann Rogers, and Grandmother; Lawsey Nary preceded him in death.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 2nd from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill. Services will be the following day, Saturday July 3rd, 2021, at 12:00PM with Pastor Greg Swisher officiating.
After the service Charlie will take his last ride, to Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, to be laid to rest. If you own a hot-rod or antique car it was in Charlie's wishes that you bring it along to accompany the funeral procession to the cemetery and to help Charlie "leave in style".
