Charles Herman Prather, Sr., 88, of Oak Hill, WV died on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at his home. Born April 04, 1919 at Glen Jean, WV he was the son of the late Robert Luther and Sarah Amanda Beckelheimer Prather. He retired from the New River Company with 42 years service. Mr. Prather was of the Baptist faith and was a baseball coach and Boy Scout leader. He was past president of the Fayette County Black Lung Association. He liked spending time with his family, working in his yard, playing with his little dog, Jack and watching his beloved New York Yankees. Charles will be missed by all his family and friends. A US Army veteran, he served during World War II. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles H. Prather, Jr.; a brother, Calvin Prather and two sisters, Garnette J. Jenkins and Emma M. McCallister.. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Massey Prather; one daughter, Mary Lee Kinley and husband, Art of Surveyor, WV; one brother, Hearld Prather and his wife, Jean of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Paula Perry and husband, Justin of Charleston, WV, Chad Prather and wife, Carrie of Columbus, OH, Daniel Kinley and wife, Terri of Hampton, VA and Stephen Kinley of Clearfield, Utah; three great grandchildren, Haley Prather of Columbus, OH, Kyndull Perry of Charleston and Benjamin Kinley of Hampton, VA. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Services will be on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Joe Brown officiating. Entombment will be at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill WV. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Saturday, May 19, 2007 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Chad Prather, Justin Perry, Joe Massey, Scott Messer, Kenny Messer and Art Kinley will serve as pallbearers.
