Charles E. Honaker, 84, of Fort Mill, SC formerly of Bradley, WV and Charleston, WV died on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Wayne Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC. Born November 09, 1924 at Mount Hope, WV he was the son of the late Dewey and Irene McCoy Honaker. He was a retired Auditor for the WV Department of Highways. Charles was a member of the Philadelphia United Methodist Church, Fort Mill, SC, South Charleston Lodge No. 168 AF and AM, Winola Chapter #59 OES of Mount Hope, honorary member of the VFW Post #4469 of Beckley and DAV #28 of Charleston He was a World War II US Air Force veteran. Mr. Honaker attained the rank of Tech Sgt., was held as a prisoner of war and was awarded several decorations including the FAME Theater Ribbon w/5 Bronze Stars; Purple Heart; Air Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters; Distinguished Unit Citation and Soldier's Medal. Survivors include his wife, Betty Riley Honaker; one son, Charles Honaker, Jr. and wife, Janice of Harrisonburg, VA; one daughter, Brenda Conn and husband, John of Monroe, NC and a brother, Dewey Honaker of Vienna, WV. A grandson, Chad Honaker of Harrisonburg, two step grandsons, Scotty Conn and Robert Montville, nephew, Dewey Honaker, Jr. and a niece Pat Jackson, also survives him. Services will be on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, in Mount Hope with Rev. John Allen officiating. Entombment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Prosperity WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post #3110 of Oak Hill. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Friday, May 1, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
