Charles W. Hardy, 80, of Oak Hill, WV formerly of Mount Hope, WV passed away on Sunday, March 02, 2008 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV of a short illness. Born May 05, 1927 at Willis Branch, WV he was the son of the late Charles W. and Lovelle Davis Hardy. Charles was a 1946 graduate of Pax High School where he was awarded best second basemen. He graduated from Beckley College in 1953 with a degree in Business Administration. He was a veteran and former employee of the New River Coal Company at Garden Ground. Mr. Hardy retired after 30 years employment as a Merchant Marine for the Interlake Steamship Company. A former member of the Mount Hope Lions Club he was also of the Christian faith. A sister, Mary Douglas and the mother of his children, Jean Hardy Seletyn preceded him in death. Survivors include four daughters, Linda Pugh and husband, Sammy of Oak Hill, Dianne Barrett of Hilltop, Chris Gray and husband, Gary of Oak Hill, and Jackie Mollohan and husband, J.D. of Oak Hill and seven grandchildren, Scott Pugh and wife, Christal of Red Star, Samantha Bolen and husband, Scott of Mount Hope, Hardy Barrett of Morgantown, Leslie Barrett of Morgantown, Shawn Gray and wife, Heidi of Oak Hill, Jeff Gray and wife, Stephanie of Oak Hill, John David Mollohan and wife, Theresa of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are two "special" grandchildren, Creta Ann Seletyn of Myrtle Beach, SC and Shawna Wolfe of Oak Hill and four great grandchildren, Taylor Pugh and Haylee Pugh of Red Star, John Hardy Barrett of Morgantown and Riley Gray of Oak Hill. DADDY The kindest soul, the warmest heart, Your unconditional love, that will never depart. Your generosity to those you knew; Family, friends, and strangers, too. The biggest smile upon your face, Was when your babies you could embrace. Your sense of humor, and all of your wit, Your selflessness we will never forget. Our hearts are filled with many memories Dad; So thinking of you, we will never be sad. From the many men on the ships at sea, To your daughters, grandchildren and family, We thank the Lord for the years we had. We will always remember and love you, Dad Your Girls There will be no visitation. Rev. Harmon Davis will conduct a private service for the family. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 Arrangements by Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, WV
